Mon Nov 19 Nice to day [today] but pretty cold in the morning. John went to school and I shucked corn for a main business.

Tues Nov 20 Mostly clear with plenty of quite chilly wind. I fixed the table by putting about 10 inches of a pine board in the top of it. Johny went to school.

Wed Nov 20 Mostly clear with quite a lot of wind. I finished the wheat stubble piece and begun to irrigate the barley stubble piece and the one north of the house and shucked corn a little spell too. Johny went to school.

Thurs Nov 21 Clear but pretty raw. I shut off the water this morning for I dont think that it is best to irrigate alfalfa when it is so cold. I shucked corn the rest of the day until it got too cold then I put some more dirt on the potato holes. John went to school.

Fri Nov 22 Mostly clear and pretty good. I husked corn and John went to scool [school].

Sat Nov 23 Pretty and very warm in the middle of the day. We went to town and took 10 sks [sacks?] wheat $7.59 and 10 sks [sacks?] of barley $7.48 and 10 sks [sacks?] of oats $7.55 making 22 and 62 cts [$22.62] for the load and that was about all we done.

Sun Nov 24 Nice. Mr Howard and Mr Buffom were here to day [today] and measured the hay. We made about 80 tons of the hay.

Mon Nov 24 Cloudy but a still nice day and quite warm in the afternoon. I shucked corn and irrigated. Johny went to school.

Tues Nov 25 Very fine all day. Mother and I finished husking the corn and I got along pretty well irrigating. Johny went to school.

Wed Nov 26 Clear and nice. I finished irrigating the barley stubble piece and the piece above the house and have got a good start at the orchard. Johny went to school a half day and took a load of barley over to town this after noon [afternoon].

Thurs Nov 27 Thanksgiving day which we spent very pleasantly over at Lew and Marys. Johny and Arthur went with us. Reas and Ett and the girls were there too and we had a lovely time and for the inner man Mary had a nice big Turkey well cooked with lots of other good things.

Fri Nov 28 Clear and nice. We hauled a couple of good loads of hay this forenoon and put it into the barn loft for the horses. Then this afternoon we took a load of grain over to town. 21 sks [sacks] of barley and 9 sks [sacks] of oats. Recd [Received] for the grain 22 dollars and sixty five cents [$22.65].

Sat Nov 29 A rather threatening day. John went up to the ranch and him and Frank killed a heifer and brought the beef home to night [tonight]. I fixed up the fence by the straw pile finished irrigating the orchard and cleaned out the lower hen house etc.

4 inches of snow Dec 2

Sun Dec 2 Found about 4 inches of moist snow on the ground this morning but to day [today] has been quite comfortable and the snow has settled lots. Mother and John went over to see Franks folks. They report them all well and very comfortably fixed. The Roberts boys came out and gave me a check for 29 dollars [$29.00] 25 [$25.00] of it for pasture and 4 [$4.00] for hay.

Mon Dec 3 Pretty sharp this morning 2° deg above zero but it thawed some in the middle of the day and got cold again towards night. I went to town and paid Wm Helm 35 dolls [dollars] [$35.00] and John Helm the ballance [balance] that I owed him 2.34/100 [$2.34] and Mr Herner 30 dollars [$30.00] and got some things for the little biggy and some lime and a sack of bran. John went to school.

Tues Dec 4 Clear and mostly still but rather cool only in the middle of the day. I started in to fix the little buggy and John went to school.

Wed Dec 5 Clear and thawed a little. I worked at the buggy again got the tires set but have quite a lot to do yet to it. Johny went to school.

Thurs Dec 6 Clear still and nice and the snow is pretty much all gone. I went over to town this morning to attend court but they were all day engaged on another suit so they did not reach the case that I was on. John went to school.

Fri Dec 7 Clear mostly but cold and windy. I attended court but they have not got to me yet so I will have to go tomorrow again. Johny went to school.

Sat Dec 8 Clear and nice. I still attended court to day [today] and after giving in my evidence I was excused so I claimed my fees and milage [mileage] and then got ready and came home. Johny went up to the ranch.

Sun Dec 9 Fine and pleasant and mostly clear. Mother and I went over to Charleys. We had a nice visit. Mr and Mrs McNeal were there too. Meda John and Arthur kept Sunday.

Mon Dec 10 Cold raw and windy but cleared of [off] towards night. I turned the water on to Bristol then fixed the bridge up on the hill then fixed the threshing engine brake then worked at the buggy wheels the rest of the day. Johny went to school. A team ran away somewhere towards town or from there and got stuck on one of our hitching posts and I guess we shall have to put them into the barn to night [tonight].

Tues Dec 11 Clear and nice but a little sharp. Lew and I went to Spring Canion [Canyon] ranch. Found the stock all there and looking very well. We got some very good promises from the old woman that they would vacate the place soon. Johny went to school.

Wed Dec 12 Clear still and quite nice and warm in the middle of the day but pretty sharp at both ends. I put in the day at the buggy and the fore wheels of the old wagon. I have them ready to set and the buggy is all ready to run. Lews folks have moved into the house with us to day [today] awhile pending their getting another place to move to for Anderson backed square out of his bargain with them. John went to school.

Thurs Dec 13 Clear still and nice. We set the front tyres [tires] on the old wagon and Lew and Dan went over to Charleys this afternoon to haul in some cornfodder and has not got back yet. I worked at cleaning and coal oiling the hen houses that are up here and done some other tinkering. Mother and Mary went to town and done some trading. Johny went to school.

Friday Dec 14 Clear still and nice again and a little warmer to day [today]. We filled up the wagon so as to bring home a big load of coal. He and Mary started about 2 O clock and they will stay to night [tonight] at Franks and in the morning Frank will go on with Lew to the coal bank and Mary will stay with the other Mary. I fixed up some troughs to water chickens in and one to feed the pigs grain in. Johny went to school.

Sat Dec 15 Some wind and a little colder to day [today]. Johny and I with Arthurs help covered the raspberries west of the ice house and the ballance [balance] of the day we devoted to whitewashing and repairing the hen houses.
