Jan 15 3 inches more snow last night.

Mon Jan 14 Not as nice as common.
It was more cold and the wind came from the
South. Lew and Dan went up to the Spring
Canion [Canyon] ranch and brought the cattle and colts down
and put them into the windy hill place.
We found a dead calf in the stable to night [tonight]
and another is a little out of sorts to night [tonight].
Johny went to school.

Tues Jan 15 Snowed about 3
inches last night. Dan hualed out two dead
calves this morning think they died of black leg.
Lew went a hunting a place but didnt find
a great deal of encouragement. Dan has been
training the colts a right smart to day [today].
Johny went to school but I visited
for a business.

Wed Jan 16 Not a bad day Still
and quite comfortable. Lew and Dan took a horsback [horseback]
ride this forenoon Dan on the mare colt. In the
afternoon they went to town and drove the other colt
with Maud. The colts proved themselves pretty good.
Johny went to School. I done some small
jobs for a wonder to day [today] so that I was busy
most of the day.

Thurs Jan 17 Cool in the mornig [morning]
but still all day. Lew and Dan went up to the
ranch with Gabriel and Maud. Johny went to
School. I sat nigh [near] the fire.
