Fri Jan 18 Clear and quite nice to day [today].
Lew and Dan got home to day [today] from the ranch.
They report it would be very lonesome up there
if it was not for the mice. They seemed to try
in their weak way and manner to enliven
it a little especially in the night that very
interesting family has moved away.
Johny went to school. I done quite a lot of
tinkering at one thing and another in
the shop.

Sat Jan 19 Nice clear and still and not
very cold. We Lew Dan and I worked at cutting and
preparing willow trees so as to haul them for wood
and John and Arthur worked at cleaning the barn
and such kind of chores but after dinner Lew
and Mary went to town and Arthur and I staid [stayed] inside
and Dan and John hauled and they made a nice
lot of wood too.

Sun Jan 20 Somewhat colder
especially towards night. Mother and Johny went
over to Charleys to day [today] and have just got back and Nelly
has come with them and will go over to town with
Meda and Arthur. The ballance [balance] of us have kept
Sunday.

Mon Jan 21 Pretty cold and windy
to day [today]. So very shivery that I didnt go out
much. Dan went up to the ranch to fix up
the shed there. Lew cut wood at the wood
pile and Johny went to school.
