An agreement made and entered into, between Bowles Edmonson &Co—(J R Bowles, Robt W Edmonson, A J Bowles. Wm M Connor, & H H Haynes, being the members of the said Firm)

of the first part and Charles Clark Governor of the State of Mississippi of the Second part, witnesseth that the parties of the first part agree to deliver to the party of the second part (14 000) pairfourteen thousand pairs of cotton cards, and (2000) two thousand pairs of wool cards at cost price, not to exceed one 50/100 dollars pr. pair, and an invoice of medicines Drugs needles & shears at cost price in Fed-eral funds, where purchased & in such proportions as the said party of second part may order—the amount including the cards not exceed ($40 000) forty-thousand dollars—: and she goods to be delivered by the parties of the first part to the party of the second part, at some RailRoad in the cars, in the state of Mississippi The said party of the second part to pay for the cards medicines &c. when delivered as afore said, at cost price only in Confederate Treasury notes, or in Treasury or cotton notes of the state, as he may elect—The said party of the second pard, is to procure & deliver, to the said party of the first part, a permit from the Confederate Commander of this department to transport cotton without molestation by Confederate
