I reply to your inquiry relative To The service of Brig Gen^l Mott. I would most respectfully state that I was the Adjt Gen^l. of Gen^l Mott—and that he was Elected by the Convention in Feby. 1861. that he organized a Brigade, and in Command of it went to Pensacola Fla—that he was on duty at Corinth as Brig. Gen^l. Army of Missⁱ—his Exact time of service I do not know, but I can safely say he was on duty and in active service for two months of the time—he was acting as Brig Genl. of the State in the Army of Missⁱ
