Dear Sir, I have heard that you had a fund on hand out of which you distributed to the destitute families of deceased Confed Soldiers. If such be the case I would recommend to Your Mercy.

"Margarett Ammons" (4 or 5 children) widow of George or "Geo. D. Ammons" private in Co "E" 27th Miss Regmt who was Killed on the battle field

Also Mahala Hampton (3 children) widow of Wm. P. Hampton private in Miss Militia Capt. Grahams Co. Maj Harper Battalion, who died in the hospital at Jackson whilst in service

These two widows are objects of charity— yours truly

P.S.

I refer you to J. W. Robinson & John Echols of your City.
