Gov Humphreys

Dear Sir, I have heard that you had a fund on hand out of which you distributed to the destitute families of deceased Confed Soldiers. If such be the case I would recommend to Your Mercy.

"Margarett Ammons" (4 or 5 children) widow of George or "Geo. D. Ammons" private in Co "E" 27^th Miss Regmt who was Killed on the battle field

Also Mahala Hampton (3 children) widow of W^m. P. Hampton private in Miss Militia Capt. Grahams Co. Maj Harper Battalion, who died in the hospital at Jackson whilst in service

These two widows are objects of charity— yours truly
