Seed Cake

Two Pounds of Flower, half a pound Buttter,
half a pound of Sugar, two large Spoonfuls of Yeast
two Eggs, & an ounce of Carraaway Seeds,
Melt the Butter in a Sauce Pan by itself,
& pour it of from the settlement at bottom
wet the Cake with Warm Milk:

To make a Baked Plumb Pudding

one Pound Raisins, 1 pounpickled Pork boild
Chopd fine, pour the pork & the water its boild in,
in to a pan & let it stand till cold. then strain
the Fat off, & mix the Fat & the Pork with
1 pound 3/4 Flour wet with Milk, add a little salt,
1 or 2 Eggs, tho may be made without

How to sharpen Knives

A Common Board, coverd with thick buff Leather,
or which is put Emery one part, Crocus Marsh's 3 [part]
in very fine powder, mixd in to a Thick paste
with a little Lard, or sweet oil spread or the Leather
the thickness of a shilling gives a superior
polish & Edge to Knives & does not wear
the Knives, a [gnarlerdo] much, as Brick dust
or a Board
