For thy^e palsie

The distilled watter of dafodillys doth cuer thy^e palsie if thy^e patient
be bathed & rubed w^th thy^e said liquor by thy^e fire Probatum

An oyntmt for any old ach or numness in thy^e Joynts

Take 2 ounces of bores greas a quarter of a pint of brandy a quarter
of a pint of bulloks gall one handfull of Cammomile another of
thy^e topes of red netles rosmary & wormwood a handfull shread thy^e herbs
small put thy^m into an Earthen pipken set it into an oven after bread
is drawn close thy^e oven & allso let it be close covered & wⁿ you take it
out strain it & put in an ounce of oyle of Spike

An excelent remedy for thy^e palsie in thy^e head

Take mustard made w^th wine vinagar dry it in thy^e oven wⁿ it is throughly
dry beat it to powder take a quarter of an ounce of betony powder & mix
w^th it half an ounce of whit sugar candy beaten into powder mix thy^m alltogether
thyⁿ take a spoonfull of it & mix it w^th bear & swalow it down & drinke a
draught after it & fast an hower after it doe thy^e like at 4 a cloke in thy^e
afternoon & so doe it 9 dayes together & it will cuer it if cuerable

For thy^e Dead Palsy aprooved or any benumdnesse
in the joynts

Take as much as a Chessenutt of Metrydate every night when y^w
goe to bede

Take thy^e stalkes of ould Rosemary halfe a pound cutt and shred them
take leaves of Bettany and sage dried of each 4 handfull two
shred nuttmeggs hange these with a flint stone or a peice of steele in
a Canvas bagge in a vessell of 3 gallons of ayle drinke no drinke
butt this all thy^e winter drinke halfe a spoonefull or a spoonefull of
good Mustard in a little draft of this drinke every mourninge and
Eveninge anoint thy^e Ridge of the backe on the same side that
his lame arme is on with this oyntment as followeth twice a day

Take Lavender flowers and bruised Rosemary of each one handfull
a quarter of a pinte of sallett oyle and 4 spoonefull of Aquavity
or any other stronge water boyle these on the fire untill thy^e
Aquavity bee consumed then strayne itt out hard and when y^w oynt
thy^e backe take some of this oyle & mix itt w^th Metridate and
Aquavity and soe apply itt w^th oyntinge twice a day untill y^w
find amendment this hath by the blessinge of god recovered
some perfect well

A Receit for thy^e Dead Palsie

Take oyle of Amber if itt be in thy^e head droppe one droppe in thy^e eare of
that side that is deade & one droppe into thy^e side of thy^e Nostrills & allso
lett there bee one droppe well rubbed one thy^t side of thy^e tongue &
lett thy^t side of thy^e face bee well rubbed w^th thy^e sayd oyle makinge
thy^e chamber as hott as a stoue w^th fire havinge a panne of fire
held close by while y^w rubbe itt thus Rubbinge them 2 or 3
mornings together doth ordinarily recover them butt y^w must
droppe into thy^e eare & Nostrell butt once the party must bee
kept in bed for 2 or 3 dayes together.

This is an aprooved Medicine thy^t hath recouered many

A Receit for thy^e Palsy

Take a pound of figs and slice them and boyle them in stronge ayle
to thy^e [?acknesse] of a Pultice which apply warme to thy^e place and
shift itt twice a day

For thy^e Palsy in thy^e tongue

Take beets and chafe them in your hand with Aquavit and lay
them blood warme to thy^e nape of your necke and some under thy^e root
of your tongue

Another for thy^e same

Take new made Mustard and chop therein a quantity of Sage and
strike it uppon a linen cloth warme and lay to thy^e nape of your necke
