Take this Cawdall
Take of the Pythe in the [Hex] barke cleane picked halfe a pound, beat it very Small, & straine it hard with a quart of Muskadine, then sett on ye fire in an earthen Pipkin with 6 or 7 Dates shed, a little [Marve], & 2. or 3. sticks of Cinamon Sett all boile a little spare, then put to it of red rose water & sugar of either 4. ounce, Lett it boile 2. or 3. boilings with a little grated Nutmeg, take it first & Last, & ever as you take itt, put the weight of eight ounces graines of Corall & amber [in some] powder to itt.

Take a legge of Mutton new killed unwashed cutt of ye skin ye fatt and ye bones cutt ye flesh in little slices or Cutts as bigge as ye top of ones thumbe putt to itt halfe a Sliced Nuttmegge a flake of Mare a Currans halfe a hanfdull of razons of ye sun ston to as much white wine as will cover ye meatt then cover itt close and lett it seeth moderately uppon a wood fire and when yu thinke ye breath strength of ye meatt is boyled out take itt [ropl] and powre out ye liquor then take ye meatt and other things and crush them betweene 2 trenchers in to ye broth take halfe a porringer of this in ye morninge and as much att 4 in ye afternoone yu must poure itt uppon 3 or 4 [Sippets] of white bread eat ye sops and drinke ye broth warm continue this till your stamacke be setled

Take a good legge of mutton new killed unwashed cutt of ye skin ye fatt and ye bones cutt ye flesh in little peices or birs as bigg as ye top of ones thumb putt itt into a pipkin with a handfull of ye razons of ye sun stoned one oz of white sugar Candy and one grame of Amber greese and halfe a Nutmegge shred close ye pott close up and boyle itt in a pott of hott water 4 houres then poure out ye Liquor yt will not be about a porringer full take halfe of itt in ye morninge and ye other halfe at 4 a clocke use itt as your Stomacke can endure
