An approved Salve to heal & draw any Impostum futilow or sweling in any part of ye body
Take smal red docks & pull off ye leaves & take ye midle stripes as I say ye leaves stript off & take ye same striges or stringes & wrap a handfull or 2 of stripes in ye leaves & lay ym in ye Embers wrap a handfull or 2 of stripes in ye leaves to put ye striges in to be rosted very tenderly if you want leaves to put ye striges in thus to rost in ye fire then take paper & to let ym rost in ye Embers a 1/4 of an hower untill they be very tender well rosted, then take ym off & put some hogs grease amonge ye stripes & so wth your knife bruse it & mingle them together & it will be as a salve wth wch take some of it & spread it upon some dock leaves or els take a cloth & spread it on yt & lay it to ye place as hot as they can sufer it & this doe 2 tymes on a day for this will both heal & draw all swelings or Impostums or fistilows this a french man used to a woman who had a wonderfull sore eye yt she could take no rest who aplyed this upon her eye, in this manner first her eye was closed & a litle leafe of ye dock laid along ye eye lid & this medicine was laid then upon ye eye very hot, & this did fetch out both ye pain & draw out ye Corruption & heaf it, & it will doe ye like upon any sore, & this is a most soverain medicine

To kill an Itching in wounds wn healing or scabs
Take a pottle of smiths watter a good handfull of red sage & as much Alum as 2 hens eges & 2 penith of hony & boyle all this together in an Earthen pot & let it boyle well 1/4 an hower & take it off ye fire & keep it wth ye hearbs for your use, & warme a like of it in a poringer blood warme & wash ye place morning & night & this will kill any Itching in ye flesh or scabs or in any part of ye body

A very drawing Poultice to make a hard swellinge breake
Take of white lilly roots and boyle them in milke till they be as soft as butter and mix wth them some brawns grease & some barly meale or course wheat flower and apply itt to the place afected morning and Evening that which you take of in ye morning may serve the next day mostened wth milke & brawns grease like as at first

To make a pultice for a sore breast
Take a handfull of scabious of chickweed or smalidge of red sage, & a good handfull of oatmell beaten as much sheepes suett as 2 egges shread all this together very small & boyle all thes in 3 or 4 pints of milk till it comes to a pultice it must boyle very well & so put it on a brown paper & to lay it to ye breast as hot as can be indured

Another pultice good to break sore breasts or boyle
Take ye grounds of ye strongest ayle you can get & boyle oatmell in it & some red rose leaves in it to ye thicknesse of a pultice & put in it some bears greas or oyle & to apply it warme as they can bear it morning & night
