Take a new Earthen pipkin that is well glased wch containeth 3 gallons & put there to 2 quarts of Springe watter 2 quarts of Sallet oyle one oz of St Jhonswort Dragons bloud an oz mumca one oz sake half a pint liquid Storax 1/2 an lb of Venus turpuntin half a lb; cochinall one oz, then take another pipkin and put therein of yealow bees wax one ib sweet Mariesome Bay Leaves and time one handfull Rosmary Aspes one handfull let them two pipkins stand over an indiffrent hott fire of Charcole for the space of half an hower then powre this Bees wax & hearbs into the other pipkin and Let itt stand so a little while, then put in of red Sanders beaten to powder one oz and stire itt well till you thinke itt be Coulred and see itt boyle; then take itt ofe the fire and power itt into a broad Earthen milkepan then put into itt one oz of naturall balsome and straine it hard through a Strainer into another Milke pan; so let it stand till it be cold which you may know by a Cake that will rise on the top of it the Longer it stands if it be till the next morning; the thicker will the cake be then cut it and melt the cake in a pewter dish and power it into pots for you use the best time to make it is the midle of June as allso save the Liquid water under the cake to wash sores befor you aplye the Ballsome for the […] Vertue of this Balsom see the 2[…] 23 page of this Booke

To make oyl of Swallows
Take Seventen Swallows from the nest & cut them into peices feathers & guts, take Cammomile Rue, plantine, Ribwort bay leaves, pony Royall, dill, hysop Rosmary Sage, St Johns wort 1 handfull shred them & boyle them in a pinte of Sack, & 4 of Salet oyle untill ye herbs be Crispt & the wine wasted, then strein the oyl to keep it

This is good in all aches palseis Convoulsions which proceed from Cold causes paine in the sid Coughs wind in the Belly mothers Chafe some of it into ye parts afected & cover them wth a brown paper covered wth wooll.

Against a bruse
Take Salendine soden very soft in running watter, make therof a plaister and apply it to ye sore.

To make oyl of Swalows good for ye hearing
Take young swallows strip of thir feathers, & cut ym in little pecies & put ym in a pot or Juge yt will goe into a pan wher in is hot cold watter stope ye pot they are in very close, & then let ye watter boyle fast till you thinke they are boyled so as to have ye licqur run from ym then keep it for your use & drop some of it into your ear warm goeing into bed & lye on ye contrary side yt it may not goe out, this hath cured thos yt were very deafe
Allso for deafness drop in yr ear some of ye Juce of ground [Juey] & stop ye ear wth some of ye leaves 2 or 3 nights together or longer
