Melt butter in saucepan. Add
sugar, stir until dissolved, cook to
290° or crack stage. Add chopped
nuts; quickly pour into greased 8" sq.
pan. When almost cool, spread with
choc & sprinkle nuts over choc. Cool.
Break up in eatable pieces.

Xmas Wreath


½ c shortening ½ T baking powder
½ c gran sugar ⅛ t salt
1 egg yolk 3 Tb milk
1½ C sifted all purp flour ¼ t almond ext

Cream shortening. Add sugar
gradually & cream well. Add egg yolk
& beat well. Sift dry ingredients together
& add alternately with milk & extract.
Chill throughly. Roll 1/16" thick, cut with
donut cutter, for wreaths, or with tree
cutter. Bake 10 mins in 375° oven.
Mix 1 C. confect. sugar with 3 Tb. warm
water. Spread some on each cookie
then sprinkle with mixed pistachio
