the Navy had a man on
first and third with one
out. Their pitcher was
on third and they were so
sure they had the game
won that they took him
out and sent in a runner
for him. Schaefer was
the next man up and Hall
walked him on purpose.
Which put three men on
base and one out. About
that time our hopes went
a glimmering, but Hall
tightened up and struck
the next man out, the next
man went out on a fly. ---
Such a relief. That
excitement over we went
into the twelfth inning.
