in my life. There were
four troop trains with
two engines out of here
every day and maybe
you think it didn't make
a cold chill run up
one's back. Our captain
had to leave the train
when our company left.
It was too much for him
to stay there until it
pulled out. He was
scheduled to go at first,
but the order was changed
and only second lieuts
were sent. I only hope that
the next time, we will all
go together. You remember
when I joined all the
posters said "volunteer
now and join the company
you want to and all
go over the top together."
