Resignation of Gate Keeper _

A communication was received from De Forest Safford, resigning hs office as Gatekeeper, having enlisted in the Federal Army, for the war. _

Voted that the resignation be accepted. _

Candidate for vacancy ref^d to Com^ee on Ints.

Upon motion by Mr Nazro,

Voted to refer the question of selecting a candidate to fill the vacancy existing in the office of Gatekeeper to the Committee on Interments.

Spooner, W. H. Jr. resignation subject to approval of the Board.

A communication was read from the Gardener, W^m H. Spooner Jr, to the effect that he had sold out his stock of plants and lease of greenhouse to Alex^r M^c- Donald, subject to the approval of the Trustees, and requesting that the Board would choose said M^c- Donald as Gardener in his stead. _

Upon motion by Mr Curtis,

Ref^d to a Committee _

Voted that the subject contained in the communication of Mr Spooner be referred to a committee consisting of Messrs Andrews, Rand and Cheever, to report upon at the next meeting, and that they also be requested to report whether, in their view it is or is not expedient to abolish the office of Gardener, and to recommend what other course ought to be adopted, if the office should be abolished.
