plus anciens Rois d’Armes de front sur une ligne vis-à-vis de
l'Autel, & derrière eux sur une seconde ligne les autres trois
Herauts d'Armes.
Après qu'on eût chanté quelques Antiennes & quelques Oraisons pour la conservation & pour la prosperité de la Sacrée Perfonne de Sa Majesté; les R. P. Recolets, les Curés & le Clergé des cinq Eglises Paroissiales se retirèrent, & les Religieux de l’Abbaïe se mirent dans leurs places ordinaires; le Magistrat de St. Pierre sur des bancs couverts de drap verd, qu’on avoit mis exprès dans le chœur les Ecclesiastiques, les Nobles, & les Députez des trois Chefs-Colleges, & des Villes & Chatelenies subalternes de la Province se placèrent tant dans les formes que sur les bancs ; & enfin les Archers environnèrent la personne de Son Excellence & les Hallebardiers fermèrent les avenues du chœur.
La Messe fût celebrée solemnellement & chantée par les meilleurs Musiciens, & lorlqu’ elle fût à l'Offertoire, Son Excellence précédée des deux premiers Hérauts d’Armes nommez Vander Leene & Van Urfel , s’avança jusqu'à la première marche de l’Autel, baifa la Patene, qui Luy fut presentée par l’Abbé d’Eenaeme officiant & fit l'Offrande ordinaire de trois Souverains d’Or & d’une piece de douze aunes d’une très riche étoffe d’or de la fabrique de ce païs, portée dans un bassin de vermeil par Mr. le Baron de Galesi son premier Ecuier.
La Messe étant finie, Son Excellence précédée de même des deux premiers Hérauts d’Armes, s’avança une seconde fois jusqu'à la première marche de l'Autel: l’Abbé d’Eenaeme se mit à sa gauche & les Religieux de l'Abbaïe en chape s'étant aprochés chantèrent quelques Antiennes & quelques Oraisons. Apres quoy Messire Jean Baptifte de Heems Chevalier Secrétaire d’Etat de Sa Majefté & commis pour faire en cette ceremonié la fonction d’Audiencier, se tenant à coté de Son Excellence lût en langue latine le formulaire du serment ordinaire; (dont la copie est ci apres marquée A ) pour la conservation des Privilèges de l’Abbaïe, que Son Excellence préta tenant la main sur les Saints Evangiles, qui lui étoient presentés par le dit Abbé ; l’un & l'autre flechissant le genoû sur un carreau.

Déz qu’ils se furent relevés, un Clerc apporta fur un bassin de vermeil l’épeé de Son Excellence, que son premier Ecuier avoit mise un moment auparavant fur l’autel, & la presenta à l'Abbé d’Eenaeme, qui apres avoir encore chanté quelques Antiennes & quelques Oraisons, en ceignit Son Excellence en proférant le 4. verset du Pseaume 44. ACCINGERE GLADIo TUO SUPER FEMUR TUUM, POTENTISSIME. A quoi il ajouta les paroles suivantes tirées aussi de l’Ecriture sainte: Et attende quod SANCTI NON PER GLADIUM , SED PER FIDEM VICERUNT REGNA: ESTO VIR FORTIS ET PRÆLIARE PRÆLIA DOMINI. Ensuite Son Excellence reprit sa place & l’Abbé entonna le TE DUEUM, qui fut chanté au son des cloches & au bruit de la petite artillerie.
Cette ceremonie achevée, quelques Religieux vinrent faire compliment à Son Excellence sur le dejeuné, que l’Abbaïe est accoutumée de donner en cette occasion: mais Son Excellence s’en étant excuseé sortit de l’Eglise avec son illustre cortège. Elle fut conduite par les Religieux jusqu’à l’arc de triomphe dressé à la porte sur le cimetiere, & par le Magistrat de S. Pierre jusqu’à la separation de la Jurisdiction de l’Abbaïe de celle de la Ville, ou il prit congé de Son Excellence; le Bailli baissant devant Elle la verge de Justice.
Ceux qui dévoient composer la Cavalcade étant montés à cheval, se formèrent & se mirent en ordre sur le cimetiere de l’Eglise de Notre Dame & marchèrent dans l’ordre suivant.
En premier lieu, un Escadron de la Cavallerie Impériale, le fabre à la main, précédé de ses timbales & de ses trompettes commença la marche. Puis les deux Sergeants Majors de Gand avec les timbales & les trompettes de la Ville richement habillés de ses couleurs, marchèrent à la tête des Députés des Villes & des Chatelenies Subalternes, & des Députés des Chefs Colleges, qui suivoient deux à deux sélon le rang, qui leur avoit été prescrit, tous bien montés & bien équipés avec de riches housses, nommées en langue Bourguignone VValtrappes, & chacun étoit précédé de ses valets en belles livrées, qui marchoient en file à pied d’un coté & de l’autre.
Le Comte de Beaulfart fit , comme il a été dit, la fonction de Guidon Héréditaire de la Province portant le grand Etendart aux armes de Flandres : Il étoit au milieu des deux Beers de la Province presents (scavoir du Baron de Pamele qui étoit

The Mefle was solemnly celebrated and sung by the best their Musicians, & lorlqu 'it was the Offertory, His Excellency preceded by the first two Heralds of Weapons name Vander Leene & Van Urfel, advanced to the first step of the Altar, baifa Patene, who Luy was introduced by the Abbot of Eenaeme officiant & made the Ordinary Offering of three Golden Sovereigns and of a piece of twelve alders of a very rich gold cloth of the manufacture of this country, carried in a vermeil basin by Mr. the Baron of Galesi his first Ecuier. The Mass being over, His Excellency preceded by the same first two Heralds of Weapons, advanced a fertilized times juice at the first step of the Altar: the Abbot of Eenaeme on his left, and the religious of the Abbaïe in a cope after Hes sang some Antiques and some Orations. After quoy Messire Jean Baptifte de Heems Chevalier Secretary of State of His majefty & committed to make in this ceremonied the function d'Audiencier, standing next to His Excellency lut in Latin the ordinary oath form; (whose copy is marked afterwards) A) for the preservation of the Privileges of the Abbia, that His ExCellence swore with his hands on the Holy Gospels, which were presented by the said Abbot; one and the other fleching the genoû on a tile.
As soon as they had risen, a Cleric brought in a pool of vermeil the sword of His Excellency, which his first Ecuier had placed a moment before on the altar, and prefented it to the Abbot of Eenaeme, who afterwards having sung again some Aneans and some Oraifons, wrapped His Excellency in uttering the 4th verse of Psalms 44. Then His Excellency resumed his place, and the Abbé intoned the TE DUEUM, which was sung to the sound of the bells and the noise of the little artillery.
This ceremony completed, some religious came to make compliment to His Excellency on the luncheon, that the Abbaye is accustomed to give on this occasion: but His Excellency this being excused, he left the Church with his illustrious cortege. She was led by the religious until the triumphal arch standing at the door on the cemetery, and by the magistrate of S. Peter until the separation of the Jurisdiction of the Abbey of that of the City, where he took leave of His Excellency; leasefalling in front of Her the rod of Justice.
Those who unveil composing the Cavalcade having climbed to horse, formed themselves and put themselves in order on the cemetery of the Church of Our Lady & walked in the following order.
First, an Imperial Cavalry Squadron, the fabre in his hand, preceded by his timbales & trumpetyou started walking. Then the two Sergeants Majors of Ghent with the timpani & trumpets of the City richly dressed in her colors, walked at the head of the deputies of the Cities & Chatelenies Subalterns, & Deputies of the Chiefs Colleges, who followed the ranks two or two had been prescribed, all well mounted and well equipped with rich covers, named in Burgundian language VValtrappes, and each was preceded by his valets in beautiful liveries, which pick in line from one side to the other.
