les vit passer sur la belle-place nommée le Cautre.
Le 21.me la même Confrerie de St. Michel, qui vouloit se choisir un Roi, fit l'exercise avec le glaive sur un theatre dressé le exprès sur le marché au vendredi vis à vis de là statüe de l’Empereur Charlés-Quint, & il y eût encore à ce spectacle une grande affluence de Peuple.
Le soir, en presence de toute la Cour on fit joüer sur l'eau du Canal nommé la Lieve un second feu d'artifices, qui reüssit aussi parfaitement bien, & par la se terminerent le rejoüissances publiques d'une féte aussi glorieuse, qu'ardemment desirée depuis si long-tems.
La magnificence qui y parut, jointe aux depences que l’on fit, pour cette grande Ceremonie , fût une preuve authentique de la joie, que les Peuples de Flandres eurent de se retrouver sous l'heureuse Domination de la très Auguste Maison d'Austriche, & de se voir par là rassurés sous les douces loix de Sa Majesté Im périale & Catholique leur legitime Souverain.
Son Excellence depecha ensuite expres en poste à Vienne le Sieur Jean Nicolas de Saive l'un des Adjudans Generaux de la Cour pour en porter la nouvelle à Sa Majesté imperiale & Ca tholique, a qui sa Majesté fit present de son portrait guarny e Diamants et qui ele fait ensuire Lieut Colonel et Gouverneur du Fort Royale sur l'Escau nomé la Perle ~

cellence, who was in the House of the Grand Bailli of the City
saw them pass on the beautiful place called the Cautre.
