Went on the range for the first time. I didn't shoot, didn't get around to me. When we got back at noon it was rumored that we might leave that night for [deleted]Grong[deleted] Grandrecourt. Definate orders to leave came about four o'clock. Left St. Maxient at 7:31 P.M. arrived Partiers 10 P.M. Left Partiers 4:16 in the morning on a special car. We had hopes of going through Paris.

Wednesday Apr. 24 '18.

Went through Tours, Orleans, when we turned east.

Thursday Apr. 25. '18.

Horned in with our officers, and got a fairly good night's sleep. Arrived at Troys about 7 A.M. Went through a large French Army bakery. Left Troys at 11:45. Passed troop trains of Italians and French about every twelve minutes all the rest of the day. Apparently something big is coming off. Passed through Chaumont. Went on to Langres. Arrived about 5 P.M. Our car wasn't to leave until 4:41 or 7 A.M. Couldn't find out which time was rite. Langres is a beautiful town built on a nole and sourounded by a great wall. We hiked about a mile and a half up the hill to the town in a pouring rain. Had a good square meal that was much needed and got a room at a hotel Turned in at 9 [deleted] and piled out again at 3:30. Took the cog railroad down to the station[deleted].

Friday Apr. 26. '18.

Piled out this morning after six hours sleep at 3:30 A.M. still mighty tired from loss of sleep and rest on
