Fore some unknown reason I couldn't fly worth a darn tonight.

Wednesday Aug 14th '18.

Len. Wood a Phi Kap from Virginia vreed in a "fifteen" yesterday afternoon in trying to stretch out his glide with a dead prop. The funeral is this afternoon.

I got a notice from the office that I have lost 5 demerits and am confined to camp for seven days and have to sign the book 7, 8, and 9 P.M. every night and on Saturdays and Sundays 2 and 4 P.M. in addition. This is the result of Grub and I missing an examination in the C.C. Gear Sunday morning.

Friday Aug. 16, '18.

Today has been a hard one for loosing men. Another man took off into Smyth as he was sitting in his machine on the ground and the propeller chopped him to pieces. Woodward got it in a fall, and Sutton dove through the smoke of a railroad engine and hit a stone wall. Poor Smyth was a dandy fellow. We chumed together in Tours quite a bit. It is hard
