drawn as much as I had before coming out here together with the $800 - which I have recieved [received] since I arrived here prior to the 17th July /53.

The 1st of Dec I recd [received] a draft from Mr. T of $1000 & the 1st inst another draft for the same amount & he writes that there is still a balance due me of $276.74 independent of the Real Estate, which is better news than I expected to hear --

I suppose that Esq J. or Mr Tucker will tell you all about the settlement but for fear they might not & thinking that you & Chas might like to hear how affairs stand I will give you a brief statement of the matter.

Esq J has not charged one percent a year, on the property, but one per cent on the whole amount then $50 per year for the loss of interest &c. for 8 years which amounts to $400. His charge for taking care of the property renting &c ($10. per year) I think is very moderate. There have been some few losses on the estate which are charged to the estate, but which I always thought Esq J. was accountable for & Mr. T. thought so too, so in order to be satisfied he took the account to an attorney in Boston & got him to examine it & he decided that Esq J. was entitled to the allowance which he claimed, so I am perfectly satisfied as the losses were comparatively small, & were as follows: On Fanoell Farsan Note of $97.31 was lost $75.32 On Kendall Davis Note of $204.65 " [was] " [lost] $153.49

Account against Warren Wood 53.46 292.27
