Dear Mother,

I am going on the sea cruise which I spoke of in my last letter and shall leave this afternoon in the Sch. [schooner] Ortolan for Santa Cruz and shall probably be away from here a week or ten days, during which time the mail will leave here for the Atlantic States, so thought I would write you a few lines at the present time to let you know that I am as well as usual.

I wish you would remember me to Mr J. A. Tucker and family if you see any of them, as I shall be unable to write them by this mail as I have but just made up my mind to go to Santa Cruz and the Sch. [schooner] leaves at 3. Oclock [O'clock].

Also give my love to Charles and Harriet and explain this brief letter From your affet [affectionate] Son

H. A. Parker [Henry A. Parker]
