I saw Mr William Shipley yesterday. He is well and looks as young as he did when I first saw him here. He still sticks firmly to his temperate habits, and I think he always will, as he begins to see the good effects arriving from the permanence of them.

As far as I know anything of any of the "Pepperellites" here, they are all well --

I have received three or four letters from Pepperell, for James K. Brolles, which I shall keep for him until I see him, unless I have a chance to forward them directly to him.

He is still in the "Revenue Cutter "Jefferson Davis", and is now up north of this Port, at a place called Puget Sound, where he will probably remain until spring --

Perhaps Augustine Chapin will visit Pepperell, and you may see him, as Sam Tucker [Samuel P. Tucker] wrote me that he went home two months ago. Thomas is still at Columbia --

Please give my love to Charles & Harriet and all the rest of our friends, Uncle Bradley and family &c.

Tell Mr Courtland Lewis whenever you see him, that Lizzie sent me one of their wedding cards, and that if they look as neat themselves as their card looks, I think they must be a nice looking couple. From your affct [affectionate] Son H. A. Parker [Henry A. Parker]
