San Francisco, Oct. 19th 1855 Friday Eve.

My Dear Mother,

Please excuse me if I write you only a few lines by this mail as I am tired and busy. Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes], returned from Oregon last Monday Evening, and brought down with him a lot of Butter, Eggs, Apples, and Beans, and we have been very busy overhauling and selling them, and tonight I am almost tired out.

Last night and night before last we were up until 12 oclock [o'clock], repacking Eggs as we do not close our stands until 10 O' clock, then we must be up again by six which makes he day a long one, especially when a person is busy the whole time. Still we are getting along first rate, and shall make some money out of our produce.

I am well, -- received your letter of the 18th Sept a day or two since, was happy to hear that you were all well.

I received a letter from J. A. Tucker and one from Silas Stern by the same mail.

Yesterday I received from J. A. T. via Cape Horn a can containing 54 Thousand Envelopes, all in nice order.
