D Sir

The workmen employed in building yoru tomb have left on number of boards + considerable other rubbish over the next lot + the avenue much to the inquiry of the general appearance of the Cemetery, now that we are putting the lots in order.

If your tomb is in such a conspicuous place it is a source of much annoyance to others, + I would there fore, respectfuly request you to have the place put in order first as far as possible. and I am confident it can be much improved from its present condition. I can do it for you, reasonably if you wish Yrs truly

Thomas B. Winchester Esq Boston

Dear Sir

In answer to your inquiries as to the work done on the Winchester tomb would say that the charge was made up of the following items viz

Cleaning white washing & painting tomb $9.00
Repairing lock 3.00
Repairing step of tomb door 8.00
Repairing jamb of tomb door 25-00
The three first named items were ordered by Mrs Winchester but an examination before the work was begun showed the jamb was badly split. Mrs Winchester was written to the price for repairs ($25.) being given and an answer received to go on with the work.

The painting etc ($9.) and repairing lock ($3) were done by the Corporation servants. The repairs to step and door jamb ($33.) were done and charged as given by our outside stonecutter. All the Corporation did in the matter was to have the foreman procure an estimate and see the work properly done There was also a charge of $5. made for annual care of lot.

Very respectfully James W Lovering pr J.C.S. Supt

Any time you are out at the Cemetery if you will please call for the foreman he will show you the various repairs made.
