J.M. Spelman Prest.

Dear Sir,

I respectfully request I may be authorized to purchase a Safe for the protection of orders for work interments, and the records & books most valuable here.

At present there is no sufficient protection against either fire or any ill & displeased person.

During the summer months there are times here when there are orders for work amounting to fifteen or more thousand dollars in aggregate.

A safe 49 3/4 inches high, 36 inches wide and 19 inches deep made by E.R. Morse, and somewhat used by the Eliot Savings Bank, tho' still in good condition, can be purchase for $350 delivered, about one half the cost of a new one.

Respectfully J.W. Lovering Supt.
