of Sameness about the land. jungle covd' hills. at 12 oclock entered Chittagong river having taken a native pilot on board. land at the entrance to Chittagong river looks pretty native- like the furze covd. moors of Scotland A great many fishing huts staked along the margin of the water. 2 balls shewn at the flagstaff, one at the yard arm & one at the gaff & the red ensign at 2 oclock anchored in Chittagong river Mr. Fletcher Judge [underscored] Dr. Beatson & Mr. Kemp came on board & Capt. dark went to dine with Mr. Fletcher Met at his house Capt. & Mrs. McDoune of the Lady Rawlinson after dinner had some B. punch & some songs Mr. Fletcher a scotsman treated me with much Kindness went out for a moonlit drive at 12 oclock drove through a great part of breakneck country. saw Bowen Dibbs& Morris into the boat went home with Mr. Fletcher & slept at his house.
Tuesday November 23rd. 1858
Mr. F. Called me early in the morning [?] to go out for a drive. We started after a cup of tea. Mr. F. Mrs. Mc. & Capt. Mc drove to the country through the tigers pass. Mr. F. Capt. Mc & I got out and went to visit some beautiful scenery through a pass saw marks of tigers & pigs recent Came back & drove to Mr. Howards house he and Mrs. drove up to

Mr. Fs to breakfast got up at 9 oclock breakfasted about 11 ocl under this tree asked to go to a Balovs party. did not go got a palltee visited Capt. & Mrs. Eales at 12 oclock at the port Captains. Met Capt. Frier & the officers from the ship Morris tiffined there Went to the Bazaar in the evening [?] one dibb got on board about 8
Wednesday November 24th 1858
Got up early before sunrise stayed on board all day nothing of importance occured today.
Thursday November 25th. 1858
Up at six. Morning very cold breakfast at 9 oclock went on shore after dinner & drove in Mr. Fletcher's Carriage with Kemp Bowen Cassaigne Morris to play cricket made three of 4 runs.

Friday November 26th. 1858
Up before 6 oclock Cold MS Went ashore with Fred Harper about 12 oclock could not get a packee went to Capt. Elison's office. Met the Capt. Fred Harper & I drove up to Capt. Elison's house with him in his Ghanie. wrote a prescription for Mrs. Frier breathing Ath S. Splim. Ar a 3p Tr. Opi 3i [?] dined there . party Capt. & Mrs. Elison, Capt. & Mrs.Eales Fred Harper & I & Gravy left between 5 & 6 went to the cricket ground. play finished [underscored] Called at Mr. Fletcher's with Fred H to bit him goodbye. Kept waiting 1/2 hour in the dining room. saw him. had a chat about Edinr. had some B. Panneer bid him good
