Messrs Hitchings & Co

Dear Sirs

You may send us a No 18 Corrugated Fire Box Boiler ^complete at the price named in your letter of Dec. 8th &c ($325) three hundred & twenty-five dollars delivered in Boston free of charge, it being of course understood that the boiler is to be made of the best of material & in the most thorough & susbstantial way.

You say that it will take rather more than two weeks to ship in N.18. Provided I can get the boiler by the 15th or 20th of January at the latest it will amswer, but it must not be later than the last named date.

Will you kindly advise me as to the size of flue in Chimney which you find most advantageous for a No. 18 Boiler, the height of the chimney from the floor on which the boiler will stand is 30 feet, a few feet above roof.

Also whether it is either advisable or necessary to have a damper in the chimney itself, this being one in the boiler & of course if desirable one can be put in the short piece of pipe which connects the boiler & the chimney.
