Shelbyville 8 May 1827.

To his Excellency Wm Carrol

Sir. We are informed that the office of Enter taker is vacant occasioned by the Pro tem solicitor appointment of Abram Martin Esquire, and we take a pleasure to recommend to your notice James Walker of this County as an applicant, who is altogether qualified to attend to the duties of the office and is a worthy respectable citizen.

Sir There has been a vacancy in this county for some three or four months past by the removal of Louis R. White, for the office of Entry Taker, it appears to be dificult [sic] matter to get any person to accept the appoint -ment as there prophits [sic] are very small - but I am autherised [sic] to say that Majo John Sutton will accept the office if Tendered & Majr Sutton is a Gentleman of first Rate standing in this County and by Reference to Mr W. Tanihill is an [illegible] be further informed as to his charactre [sic] an standing, as he is well
