Dr Sir
A vacancy has occurred in the office of solicitor general of the 12th district by the resignation of Mr McMeans. The Bearer John C. Collier Atto at law whom I beg leave to introduce to your acquaintance is a candidate for that office. He is a man with whom I am well acquaint= =ed. I can say that his moral character is beyond all exception and I beleive [sic] him well qualified to discharge the dut= =ies of the office. If he should meet with success it will confer an additional favour on
yours &c Respectfully
Governor Joseph McMinn}
