McMinnville July 8th 1819

To his Excellency Joseph McMinn

The undersigned being informed that Thos J. Campbell formerly attorney general for this solicitorial district has resigned that appointment recommend James Rogers Esqr at this place as a very competent person to fill the appointment perform the duties of that office, Mr Rogers ability, experience & indefatigable attention to business will ensure the government to be represented to the satisfaction of all Concerned.

man could wish, and I think him an object of executive clemency . He is in a declining state of health, and perhaps the confines of a prison might produce his death. I deem it unne cissary [sic] to say any thing about the frailty of the human famaly [sic], or commisseration, as your experiance [sic] in life forbids it. I am confident a pardon will meet the approbation of all who is acquainted with the transaction
