Dear Sir
Abram Martin Esq Entry taker for Bedford County, Being Before you for the appointment of Solicitor in place of Mr Fulton resigned. It is expected from Mr Martins character & his Strong recomend ation that the appointment will be Confered upon him, In that event his office of Entry taker will be vacated
And Mr James R White of this place will be before you for that appointment, Being Intimately acquainted with Mr White we can say with Confidence that he is a man every way well qualified for that office and his character Stands above suspiton. Dear Sir
Mr James R White of this place is an applicant for the appointment of Entry taker for Bedford County. He is a young Gentleman of business, of Character, and ability. It is therefore that I take a pleasure in recommending him to the favourable notice of your Excellency as a young man every way qualified to the discharge of the duties of this office.

Sir There has been a vacancy in this county for some three or four months past by the removal of Louis R. White, for the office of Entry Taker, it appears to be dificult [sic] matter to get any person to accept the appoint -ment as there prophits [sic] are very small - but I am autherised [sic] to say that Majo John Sutton will accept the office if Tendered & Majr Sutton is a Gentleman of first Rate standing in this County and by Reference to Mr W. Tanihill is an [illegible] be further informed as to his charactre [sic] an standing, as he is well
