To his Excellency Archibald Roan [sic] Esqr Governor in and over the State of Tennessee the petition of the undersigned On behalf of Peter Bean humbly [co?]presenteth
That the said before named Peter Bean hath [?], at the Honorable [?] [Couch] of [?] continued and held in and for the District of Washington in the State of Tennessee on the [first?] monday of March in the year our our Lord one thousand and Eight hundred and three - been found guilty, by a Jury of his Country, of the crime of petit [sic] larceny on an indictment on that [pursued?] against him - and is now liable to the punishment prescribed by law for such offence
We therefore whose names all hereto Subscribed do think our selves authorised, by the circumstances of the said case of the said Peter Bean, and in consideration of his character, which has been proved to have been good prior to the commission of the offence where with he is now charged and found Guilty - to [Recommend?] him the said Peter Bean to Your Excellency as a proper Object to whom to the benefit of a pardon which you are by the constitution of the state of Tennessee vested with the power of Granting and therefore do [Recommend?] the said Peter Bean to your Excellency as such and pray that Your Excellency may grant such a pardon to him according ly

Archibald Roane Governor in and over the State of Tennessee
To all who shall see these presents Greeting
Whereas Peter Bean at the present term of the Superior Court of Law held for the District of Washington has been convicted of Petit Larceny, and whereas it appears by - petition signed by the prosecution and the Jurors who sat on His trial that he has been a person of good Character previous to the Conviction of the Offence aforesaid and that he was probably seduced by the intriguer of those more gratly [sic] than himself
now Know ye that I do hereby Pardon the said Peter Bean for the said offence Petit Larceny of which he has been Convicted
Given under my hand and Seal at Jonesborough this 16th day of March 1803
