Any documents or information tending to elucidate the subject I should wish to have copies, stated, and transmitted to me at the seat of Government as soon as coveniently can be done. Your own observations will be desirable.
Enclosed is an extract from a general report made by Mr. Jefferson in 1791 on the subject of vacant lands belonging to the United States. It will facilitate our enquiries.
The enclosed memorandum contains matters which have been mentioned to me as useful to be attended to & also an analysis of the particu lars, which present themselves as objects of enquiry under the 2d condition of the deed of cession.
A letter similar to this with similar enclosures I have for warded to the Governor of North Carolina, the Secretary of that state & to the General state office of N Carolina commonly called John Armstrongs Office
Being a total Stranger to the parts of the country, where these landed transactions have taken place, and to the Gentlement most acquainted with them it renders my obtaining the necessary information did ficult, and the application for it, in some degree awkward and indelicate.
Any communications, assistance, or necessary documents, which you can procure, or cuase to be procured & transmitted with a bill of expense attending the same will be very grateful to me useful to the public.
