Charlotte Sept 6th 1830

Dear Sir}

It has become necessary for you to exercise in you [sic] official Capacity the appointment of a Special Judge for the Circuit Courts of Hickman Humphreys & Stewart & Springfield permit me to present to your Consideration Maj Richard Daly who has long been a [pridisey?] atto[rney] among us and [illegible] forward a reputation uninpeached [sic] and [unsurpassed?] a prefferance [sic] of him by you Will be thankfully recived [sic] by many of your freind [sic], In the hurry of the moment we Sent by Judge Humphreys a recommendation of those of the Lawyers who were at Court.

Clarksville 8th Sept. 1830

Dear Sir,

I have interchanged ridings [sic] with Parry W. Hum =phreys Judge of the fifth Circuit for the term of said fifth Circuit which began at Clarksville on the Third Monday in August and ending in Robertson County which commences on the second Monday in October next - in going from Clarksville to Charlotte I had my thigh bone broken, which renders it [probable?] [I will?] be unable to hold the remaining courts of the fifth Circuit it is possible I might be able to hold Robertson Court - I make my communication with a view to the appointment of as special judge to hold the Courts of the fifth Circuit during said interchange or until my present disability is removed
