Dear Sir,

By this days mail It is probable you will receive the resignation of Richard D Wheeler late principal Surveyor of Campbell County, and having for many years done the greater part of the Surveying that has been done in the County I would accept of protem ap =pointment to that office should sould [sic] such an arrang= ment meet with your Approbation —

With sentiments of respect I am Sir your obedient Servant

Sir Inclosed [sic] you will receive my resignation as principal Surveyor of Campbell County and with your permission would recommend Joseph Hart as a person Well qualified to discharge the duties encumbered upon that office.

With Sentiments of respects I have the honor to be your Obedant [sic] Servant Richd. D. Wheeler
