State of Tennessee Robertson County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions May Term 1833
Present the Worshipped John Hutchison, William Wisener, James Sawyer, Robert Green, Warren S. Payne, Moses M. Carely, William S. Armstrong, Joseph Felts, Benjamin Kirby, [Abraham B. Gosing|Abrm. B. Gosing]], Christopher Williams, Henry Frey, George S. Clark, Jacob Birkley, Joseph Washington, John Forbes, Anthony Jones, John Draughan, Joseph Johnson, James Spurns, Richard Jones, William Pope, George Murphy, William C. Conrad, Matthew Powell, Richard Benson, Meredith Walters, Joel Moore, Alfred Justin, John S. Hutchison, James Shannon, Bartley Pitts, Milton [Bousen?], John C. Straughan Esqrs. Justins presiding The Court there proceeded to elect a sheriff and upon ballotting therefor [sic] Josiah W. Hicks is duly and constitutionally elected sheriff for Robertson County for the ensuing two years who entered into bond with security conditioned as the law directs and qualified arguable to law -
I certify the above to be a true copy of the Recerd [sic] of the proceedings had in the election for Sheriff & In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed the seal of said Court at office in Springfield this 16th day of May 1833

Springfield 6 June 1833
Dear Sir, our Sheriff has some important process's [sic] in hand to execute and the complaining parties by their Counsel objects to the service of them untill [sic] he is commissioned which has failed to come to hand, he therefore by request of the Counsel of the complaining parties ask'd [sic] me to drop you this note in order to ask the favor to forward his commission so soon as practicable [sic]
