87 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE is hereby instructed to prohibit the firing of fire crackers in dangerous places on July 4th 1882. Ordered that the Celebration Committee be granted permission to use James Street for a pavillion on July 4th 1882. Ordered that the Clerk be instructed to publish notices of a general election on July 10th 1882 according to law. Ordered that the following named persons be and they are hereby appointed to conduct said election and that the following named places an hereby designated as the places of holding said election, towit: First Ward Place of Election Office of J.P. S.F. Coombs Inspector of " Frank Matthias Judges " " H.G. Thomton & E . A. Turner Clerks " " Fred E. Sander & Ed Plummer Second Ward Place of Election Engine House on Columbia Street Inspector of " Andrew Slorah Judges " " O.C. Shorey & W.H. Shoudy Clerks " " D. J. 463 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE May 2/84 Be it remembered that on this the 2d day of May 1884 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. The following officers are present, towit: his honor the mayor H.G. Struve and Councilmen Thos Clancy, B.F. Day, Geo. W. Harris, Charles McDonald, B.L. Northup, Otto Ranke, U.M. Rasin & F. W. Wusthoff. Thereupon the following proceedings are had Petitions Rec'd From U.A. Carr for correcting assessment. Referred to Finance Committee. From D.T. Denny et al for permission to grade Front Street from Lake Avenue to Kentucky Street, along Kentucky Street to Harrison Street, along Harrison Street to Temperance Street along Temperance Street to Bluff Street. Granted surveyor instructed to make the necessary surveys & establish the grade elevations. From Clayton Bros et al for a sidewalk on Front & Columbia Streets fronting Lot 8 Block 8 of Boren's plat. Referred to Street Committee. From W. Brackett et al against granting a license to R. Pritchard for a salon on Jackson Street. Referred to Committee on Licenses. From Robt Abrams et al for correction of errors in amount of cost[ of Battery Street Improvement & for an extension of time. Referred to Finance Committee. From O.C. Shorey for permission to raise sidewalk between Cherry & Columbia Streets. Referred to Surveyor. From W. Harkins for an allowance on a/c of 4th Street grade.
