Mason G. Parker Esq

Dear Sir,

I find that your lot & that of Mr Jas. K. Lawrence, on Oak Av. are wrongly numbered on the lot & on the plan 2807 & 2808.

These numbers should have corresponded with those of your deeds 2806 & 2807. The mistake appears to have been the result of some previous misnumbering.

I wish to correct it so that no mistake will arise hereafter upon any interment.

Please therefore inform me whether your lot or that of Mr L. is more northerly - that is towards the Lake - and I will have the numbered located accordingly.

Also inform me whether any, and what interments have been made in the lots, that the Register of Interments may be corrected.

Yours truly

Dear Sir,

Your lot appears to have been wrongly numbered on the lot & on the plan for the whole time which you have owned lot 2811 - while your deed is of 2808.

I have taken steps towards the necessary correction, on the lot and on the Register of the ^three interments which you made - so as to correspond with your deed - 2808.

I merely notify you that you may not be surprized to see a change of number.

Yours truly

A.W. Hastings, Esq.

Dear Sir,

I am sorry that our honest attempt to reach the facts in the case of the charge for a brick grave for your father, of $20, on should be the occasion of any unpleasant feelings.

I wrote you on the 9th of July that the Lawrence bill was paid, as you state, on the , at which time the charge in question had never been made. Your father died in August following, and the two charges of $20 each are therefore entered distinct as our "order book" at Mt. A. shows, although in your reply of July 15th, to me, you seem to suppose them one and the same.

The order book referred to per, --

". Thos. Hastings, Int. and record -- Body of James K. Lawrence, (Birch Grave) $20. -- Bill recd Treasr some time in 1864". This was paid (as stated) .

The order book next shows A. Winthrop Hastings -- Brick Grave, Int. & Record. Body of Thos. Hastings -- $20. Bill recd Treas. ".

I have taken the pains to examine carefully our books and also the accounts of moneys recd at the Gate, from to the present time, and they furnish no evidence that the $20 for your father's brick grave has been paid. There is not much chance of error on the cash book, even if journals & ledgers are deficient.

If you find a receipted bill of this, I shall be very glad to enter it on the books -- otherwise, will feel obliged if you will pay it.

Yours very Respy.
