If you will suffer the suggestion, I think the 2d clause of Art. 29 of the bylaws - p. 48 ^to the end of the first sentence, should be amended to read -
"The Trustees may also guarantee the perpetual repair of lots on the payment to the Treasurer of such sum, in each case, as the Committee on Lots shall deem sufficient."
As the least sum that can be received at all is $100, there would seem to be no danger in leaving this clause without the minimum limit of $100, as the Commee on Lots would not be very likely to guarantee perpetual care for a smaller sum than they are at liberty to accept at any rate, viz $100.
I would advise that the first clause should remain as it now stands.
The application upon the lot of Mrs. Skinner no. 1175, made by Col. Wm. R. Lee, I suppose can be acted on at once.
Very resp.y yours
A.J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt Auburn
Dear Sir, I went with the Supt. this morning & measured the two lots named by you on Arethusa Path and found that they were good for two lots with space intervening of 400 feet each.- But a gentleman spoke to him two or three days since, and did not wish Capt Winsor to sell them until he could see him once more. He wished for two lots. I believe the Superintendents agreed not to sell them until he should come out again. I think that whoever agrees to take the whole piece solid will be likely to get it. We measured on the front from inside to inside of curb 54 1/2 feet. The back line would measure a little more.
Yours truly
A.J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt. A.C.

Dear Sir,
I have submitted to the Committee on Lots your request, to know you what sum this Corporation will assume the perpetual care of lot No. 1175 in the Cemetery belonging to Mrs. Sarah Skinner and have this reply. The Committee on Lots will recommend the Trustees to guarantee the perpetual care of this Lot after it has been put in repair satisfactory to the Superintendent, for $300.
The Superintendent in his report of the condition of the lot, after describing it in other particulars says: -“The lot is all moss! Requires grading, and fence wants some slight repairs, and also painting, with cost $25 to put it in good order.”
Your most respectfully Austin J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt. A. Cem.y
Capt D. L. Winsor, Supt Dear Sir,
The price proposed by the Comee on Lots for Perpetual care of lot no. 1676 on Cypress Av. owned by [devisees?] of late Sarah Baxter, of Newton, viz $400, having been accepted by the Secy and trustee, he, wishes to pay over not only that but the same necessary for present repair, & for the care of lot, as ordered, this year, in one sum; and it has been agreed with him that the lot shall be put into the condition, immediately, which you think proper, for its acceptance, and the amount be made [up?] and sent to Mr. H. C. Stephens for payment.
You said in the report of condition, under quest 7th “nothing except ‘tis set in brimstone, which eventually destroys the stone.”
You are authorized to put it in the requisite condition, and add to that charge the care for present year. The parties are very anxious to have this done at once.
Make bill to “Estate of Daniel Baxter, deceased.”
Truly yours
A.J. Coolidge Sec.y
