Mr dear Edward –

We have not known where to address you, but yesterday I met Mr. Spear who said if I sent a letter to his house, he would take it up Saturday I believe.

Mother is 7 miles N of Calistoga. She and Edith went there a week ago today. Jocelyn and I go up tomorrow night. He will stay two weeks, but I get back Monday about 10 AM, and I shall then be alone in the house until they get back.

Mothers address is

c/o Mrs. Mollie Patton Toll House via Calistoga Cal.

We got a fine letter from Lesley written June 1st from Mollendo, Peru. No letters recently from Nor or Dick, but this morning's Examiner says all the Cadets were received by the Pope and received the apostolic blessing. Mr. Spear gave me good accounts of you and of the trip. He seemed to enjoy it very much himself.

There is no news. I suppose you will not be back for at least 3 weeks yet. Love from us all, and kindest regards to Mrs. Spear and the boys.

your loving father

HLABates
