a week lying in the hot tropical sun until he was blistered – He said "I seem to have gotten over my tendancy [tendency] to sunstroke which I brought here from Santo Domingo" (it shows in attacks of dizzyness [dizziness]) Helen tells me –

He had it – sometimes when it was not very hot at all – walking with her he would have to take hold of her for support!! – We never knew it before – Poor dear boy – What a lot he has suffered –

Fond love dearest from each of us – Prayers & blessings for you always.

Your loving Mother R Helen Bates

Tell us how you are situated. Do you have a tent alone or how is it?

advanced flying to other fields – no one knows when –

Helen phones me a letter from Nor says he has had Dengue fever. I am so sorry & anxious tho Helen says it is far less severe than that of Santo Domingo! I hope so – He writes us [inserted above] that he is lonely at times – but not to tell Helen this as he understands the Dr wishes her to be under observation a little longer – maybe a good deal longer – It is very hard for him –

How I hope & pray that Dick has been able to go to see you dearie.
