On and after this date, all brick graves will be built with a brick bottom, unless specially ordered built in some other manner by the Proprietor.

When built without brick bottom you will notify this office of the fact and circumstances.

The bills for care &c, are rendered about Oct. 1st, usually but, as you direct us to send the bill before June 15th I enclose it herewith so that you may consult your own convenience as to the time of payment.

Upon Motion of Mr Curtis, the report was accepted and adopted: and the same is placed on file. _

Path to Lot 1994 referred to Comee on Grounds

Mr Curtis for the Committee upon Lots stated that the Committee had initiated an arrangement with Mr C. W. Story, Executor of the late M. P. Sawyer to lay out a path from Moss Path to Lot 1994, lately purchased by him, he having purchased a lot of 300 square feet on the line of said proposed pathway; and he further moved the reference of the subject to the Committee upon Grounds, which was adopted.

Lot 116 _ Division of authorized.

The President stated that he was the Proprietor of a lot containing 600 feet, situated upon Beech Avenue and Geranium Path, numbered 116, _ that 300 feet of it situated upon Geranium Path belonged to Mrs Catherine Scollay, and was conveyed to him by accident, and requested that that the lot might be divided, and conveyed in accordance with the above facts.

Upon which it was

Voted that Lot No. 116 be divided into two lots, and 300 feet thereof be conveyed to Mrs Catherine Scollay, the President first making the requisite transfer. _

The meeting was then adjourned Austin J. Coolidge, Secretary.

procured of the Cambridge Water Works, stated that the Committee were unable to report on the subject. _

Price of land west of Chapel _ Unfinished _

The President for the Committee upon Grounds, to which was referred the question _ What price shall be charged for land westerly of the chapel upon and adjoining the land lately filled up, stated that the Committee were not prepared to report.

Loring A. M.'s Purchase & Improvt of Meadow Pond _

Also, upon the application of Mrs. A. M. Loring to purchase land at the head of Meadow Pond, that the Committee had accepted her proposal, the land had been conveyed to her, and improvements had been made by stoning around a part of the pond: _

Tomb & Lots of Blaney & Ward _ Removal _

That they had effected the removal of tombs and lots upon Snowberry Path, _ those of Messrs Benjamin Blaney and Samuel L. Ward, owning respectively lots numbered 577. and 588. these gentlemen having accepted lots upon Primrose Path.

New Path to Raymond Lot _

That they had laid out a path from Moss Path to Lot numbered 1994, that of Curtis B. Raymond, upon the suggestion made by the Committee on lots and referred to them at the last meeting. _

And their report was accepted. _

New Mayflower Path _ Old discontinud

Dr. Bigelow, to whom was referred the subject of naming a short path between the two branches of Elm Avenue, reported, that he had given the same the name of Mayflower Path, agreeably to the request of

[Report of Comee on Grounds, on Improving, filling up] & grading unsold lands _

of which report the following is a copy. _

"That the Committee on Grounds be instructed to expend one thousand dollars per annum in grading and improving the unsold parts of the land within the Cemetery, and that the earth removed by this process be applied towards filling up the superflous ponds and hollows in the grounds.

Embellishing with oramental trees _

That the same Committee be authorized this year to introduce ornamental trees and shrubs into suitable parts of the ground, at a cost not exceeding five hundred dollars.

Constructing Drain through Indian Ridge _

That the same Committee be authorized, if they deem it expedient, to construct a drain through Indian Ridge, from Garden Pond to Meadow Pond, so arranging the banks made by cutting this drain, that they may hereafter be used for constructing catacomb tombs; the outlay not to exceed one thousand dollars."_

The President being called away Mr Read was called to the Chair.

Upon motion of Mr Curtis, the following vote was passed.

Path laid out as a branch of Moss Path to Raymond Lot _

"Whereas C. W. Storey Esq. Executor of the late M. P. Sawyer has purchased a lot of land containing three hundred square feet, in the Cemetery of Mount Auburn, situated between Moss Path opposite to Central Square and the Northerly side of the lot of C. B. Raymond, Trustee, numbered 1994, for the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, for the purpose of making a way to said lot numbered 1994, – and whereas said lot is wider than is necessary for

a path but does not extend in length so far as to cover the whole distance to said lot numbered 1994, so that the aforesaid object of purchasing said lot of three hundred feet is not thereby attained, _

Now in consideration of the payment aforesaid by the said Storey: and of his release of all right and title to said lot of three hundred square feet

It is hereby ordered, that said lot of three hundred ^square feet be discontinued, and that a path eight feet in width be laid out by this Corporation from Moss Path, opposite Central Square, as aforesaid, to said lot numbered 1994, over the route above described, and be forever kept open for the benefit of said lot numbered 1994, and any other lots that may border upon said path.

It was further voted that said path be regarded as a part of Moss Path.

Whether deed can be made to heirs at law? Refd to Comee on Lots _

Upon motion of Mr Curtis,

Voted that the Committee on Lots be requested to consider, whether, under the Charter, a deed can be made to the heirs at law of a person, as one person, and report thereon.

Lot 209

Upon the petition of the parties in interest, Christina Lindsey of Charlestown widow of Ichabod Lindsey late proprietor of lot numbered 209, was appointed to represent said lot. _

The meeting was then adjourned.
