Dear Edward;

Perhaps your Mother has told you of how the students of the Alameda High School have been asked to write to the boys "over there", who were former Hi students. So I decided to write to you [underlined], and I guess you would like to hear some of Alameda's "doings".

By the way, I don't suppose that you know that I was now a "Scrub" in High School, did you? Well, I am, and am finding everything simply splendid. Here are some of my teachers names, you probably had or knew them in "Hi" School. Miss Connoley is my advisory teacher, she certainly is [underlined] delightful.
