peace will come through the complete Allied victory [underlined] over Germany!
I suppose it is really ridiculous for me to talk about "that"[written twice and crossed out] what is happening now [underlined], as, by the time this letter reaches you, things will have changed so.
Well, Edward, I really must close now, as this is an awfully [underlined] long letter. But before I do so, I wish to say that we all send you the very best of good wishes and are looking forward to the time when you and your brothers and all the other "Yanks" come back. You may be sure that the United States will welcome you back royally.
Your sincere Friend Dorothy F. H. Anderson
P.S. We shall be very [underlined] glad to hear from you soon, between shots !!
P.S.S. Please excuse this outrageous writing, but my pen is feeling very scratchy.
P.S.S.S. When you come back please bring me some water from the Rhine, or a bucket of the Kaiser's blood! I prefer the latter. Mildred would like you to reserve the Kaiser's whiskers for her.
