Well, Edw., I look for the old guerre to blow over very shortly. Bill has been getting some rough jolts and severe shocks for the past three months, and I'm sure he's not so much of a dope, that he doesn't realize, he has no more cards to play.

As for myself, I've been over here some little time, and have nothing to show but two service stripes and a Croix de Guerre. Promotions? I've almost forgotten there is such a word. But -- I've been a damn good private, if I do say so myself, and I have one fine salute waiting for you when we have the good fortune to meet.

Trusting this will find all the best with you, health, spirits, etc. Don't mind the weather. It's on the blink now and is going to get worse. Keep the feet dry and your body warm. Bad place for pneumonia over here, -- and don't forget to write
