Mr F.M. Safford Gate Keeper Pro. tem. Mt. Auburn Cemetery

[written sideways between address & date]

Is it not most time to send out some bills? I am running short of funds.

Dear Sir --

Mr J. Perham Jr., Lot 1464, has called for his bill. I find no charge against that lot on my books; if you have a charge please make out the bill in detail & send to me.

In your receipts of money at the gate some of the amounts are placed directly to the Labor & Material Account, and other sums are carried to the same account; also to the credit of the Lot in the ledger -- What I desire is, that you should put against each item that is to be credited on the ledger such mark as will enable me to distinguish it from other credits -- for instance; you credit in your acct. $5. for Wood Sold; that sum is credited in my cash book to Labor & Materials -- But, if you receive money for reforms or improvements on lots, or for care for the year, you will also at some other time (before or after the recups of the money) render me an a/c, or bills, made from the order book, and such amts. charged from the a/c, bills, or order book, I shall place to the debit of that a/c in the Ledger, if I know when it should so be placed. -- Don't be troubled about this; I will explain more clearly the first time you are in my office.

Yours truly --

H.B. Mackintosh Treasr
