At 8 o’clock took Gwyn to leave her car in Park, or, rather picked up her up after she left it for repairs. Home again, read Legs till 10 o’clock opening time at opus 2, then drove and exchanged the Awia Walkman for another in case the last was defective. I’ll give it a try, then turn it in if it’s faulty.
Read Kennedy’s Legs all afternoon; finished it around 4. It improved as it went along, but never got really as good as I hoped it would be. Received from James M. Cox English Department at Dartmouth, another Xerox of his Southern Review artile, along with a letter saying he hadn’t written earlier because he wanted the piece itself to be the first letter to me. Took Gwyn to barbeque restaurant over on central; She had a rack of ribs, I had a brisket jumbo sandwich. Finished Legs.
