DECEMBER 1944

24 Sun - 4th in Advent Went to Sunday School in morning and taught primary. No sunday school in afternoonand read a book still very foggy and cold so did not go to chapel in evening. Read again. Ted & Betty came in.

25 Mon - Christmas Day (Quarter Day) Very foggy and freezing. Had a lovely Lot of presents in morning. Slippers & handbag from Mummy & Daddy. Worked in the morning. Had dinner at home. Went to Auntie Winnie's for tea and supper. Ted came with us. Had a good time.

26 Tues - S. Stephen. Bank Holiday Still foggy Went to Grandma's for dinner, tea, and supper. Played with Ian in the afternoon. Clarkes not there owing to Rogers whooping cough. Played games in the evening. Got home at 11.30 pm

27 Wed - S. John Very sharp frost. Freezing all day. Fog cleared. Stayed in bed until dinner time. Wrote a letter in afternoon and did some ironing. Betty came in in evening and brought A.A.C Eric Paterson W/T. Dave & Colin came in. Just back from leave

DECEMBER 1944

Bill came back from leave 28 Thur - Innocents' Day Still very cold. Thawed little in afternoon. Helped Mummy all the morning. Made a stew. Mummy & I went to Little Thetford in afternoon & met Miss Cheesewright at [ities] L & C. Colin Dave Denys & Leslie came in in evening & Bill came in late.

29 Fri - Full Moon 3.38 p.m. Very cold freezing all day. Helped Mummie all the morning cleaned my bedroom & the hall & went to Sutton. Wrote 2 letters in afternoon. Went with Daddy and Colin skating in the moonlight down [a] Gault. Had a lovely time.

30 Sat - s.r. 8.6, s.s. 4.0

Thawed all day so [...] skating. Helped Mummy all the morning went to Sutton & did errands in afternoon. Had a bath. Read in the evening. Dave & Colin came in and P/O Bruce Crawford Pilot. Played a game.

Push on with the digging of vacant ground when conditions are favourable. Review the past season's cropping results and try to account for any failures which have occurred, with a view to obtaining better results in the coming year.

DECEMBER 1944 - JANUARY 1945

31 Sun - 1st after Christmas Went to Primary in morning and took it with Janet's and Alma's help. Went to S. School in afternoon Colin & Dave came to tea. Went to Chapel evening. Bill fetched Janet & I home, Betty came in later.

1 Jan Mon - Bank Holiday in Scotland

2 Tues

3 Wed - Dog and Annual Motor Licences renewable
