the day saw nothing But fin backs at sun set
the water Blue took in sail and head to the west
ward southward the wind to the Westward
Lat by obs 39 – 47 Long 42 – 20

Monday Decn 16th “
First part of these 24 hours fresh Breeses from
S West steared E by South middle part calm
Latter part take the wind at North at 6 AM saw
2 whales put off and chaised but could not strike
at 11 the wind increases to A fresh gale and rain took sails
in all sail but A clost reefed main top sail and stays
head W NW so ends the day - -
Lat obs 40 – 05 – Long 41 – 15

Tuesday December 17th
First part strong gales and rain at N N West
at sun set the wind hauls to the Westward and freshens
to A strong gale new ship to the Northward and turn
up the standard boat mid and Latter part strong gales
and heavy sea at W S W saw nothing ends rugged
Lat by obs 39 – 45 Long had sight 45
