top sails and fore sail and have to head south
Latter part hard gales and hard sea in took in
the waist boat saw nothing so ends the day
Lat by obs 39 – 45 Long had Light 46 – 20

Thursday Decn 19th
First and mid part of these 24 hours heavy gales and
great swell at S West at 10 P M veered ship to W N W
Latter part the gale moderates set the fore sail and ran
to E S East saw several fin backs and 2 right whales
employed in mending sails ends with fresh gals and rugged
Lat by obs 39 – 40 Long by Lunar 44 – 21 [61 PM?]

Friday Decn 20th
First part fresh winds and rugged at W S West
Mid part more moderate the wind hauls to the N West
Latter part fresh gales and rain from the West spoke
the Herald of New Bedford g whales saw nothing
Lat by D R 40 – 10 Long by 44 – 20

Saturday 21st December
First and mid part fresh gals and rugged at S West
Latter part the weather moderates and hauls to the
South head S E employed in mending the main top sail
at 12 PM set all sail steared N E in co with the
Herald of new Bedford Neeal saw nothing
